First isolation of biodegradable polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons <i>Mycobacterium porcinum</i> and <i>Mycobacterium celeriflavum</i> from oil-polluted ecosystems

Background: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have detrimental effects on human, ecosystem, and biodiversity. Bioremediation is an option that has been used to remediate reduce the risk of contaminants such as PAHs. Microorganisms are readily available screen can be rapidly identified in many extreme environmental conditions. Mycobacteria a great potential for production bioactive compound, which degradation activity. Due this issue, also, there no study conducted biodiversity biodegradable Mycobacterium Markazi province, present aimed assess isolation identification species from diverse province ecosystems. Methods: were screened total 30 soil, water, sludge samples oil-polluted ecosystems characterized genus level by applying molecular conventional microbiological assay including PCR amplification sequence analysis 16SrRNA hsp65 genes. The growth rate presence PAHs, turbidometry, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) determine their bioremediation capability. Results: In total, 6 isolates (20%) samples, belonged two consisting M. porcinum (4 isolates) celeriflavum (2 isolates). strains could degrade 70% 90% 1 mg/L PAH solution 7 days. Conclusion: According results, significant capability biodegrade Therefore, more investigations recommended separation applicational use mycobacterium
